Sizzlers are copies of the most popular titles in the library, and are available in physical and digital forms.
Physical Sizzler copies are ready for you to check out immediately! We’ve set aside a few copies of the most in-demand books, DVDs and music CDs to not fill holds or renewals and be available for our browsing patrons. Because they're a special collection, Sizzlers have unique checkout limits and due dates, including:
- Book Sizzlers: Check out for 14 days.
- AV Sizzlers (DVDs and music CDs): Check out for 7 days.
Patrons may check out one book Sizzler and one AV Sizzler at a time.
Patrons with an overdue Sizzler of either kind cannot check out anything else until it’s returned.
Sizzlers can be found on the New Book shelf at every branch. Come in and find one today!
Digital Sizzler eBook copies, available from OverDrive, work a little differently, as they are automatically classified as Sizzlers if they have more than 4 holds per available copy. These eBooks are limited to 14-day checkouts, even if a patron's default checkout is set to 21 days. Once the hold list decreases to under 4 holds per eBook title, the default settings for eBooks checkouts go into effect. The number of checkouts for Sizzler and standard eBooks is the same. OverDrive eAudiobooks are not affected, as they are not available as Sizzlers at this time.
