The Internet offers huge amounts of information but no guarantee that a site is accurate, complete, up-to-date or unbiased, especially if it is a commercial site. Library databases have high quality information compiled from researched sources, are commercial free, and accurate by current standards.

The Library strives to offer databases that offer services and information to our diverse community. You can read the local Gainesville Sun newspaper, conduct genealogy research on Ancestry.com (temporary remote access), learn a new language with Transparent Language, or take a course on LinkedIn Learning. To access any of our databases remotely, you will need your valid 14-digit library card number. You may also need your account PIN/password. Your PIN/password is automatically set to the four-digit year you were born (e.g. 1999).

To view the Library District's current database collection, please visit our A-Z list of Databases.
