Both devices can use mp3s and both devices can read eBooks ePUB formats.
You can download the same mp3 title onto both provided you have the OverDrive app installed on each and also authenticated on each one to the same email address.
You can also use the OverDrive app to read the EPUB on both devices, provided they are both authenticated to the same email address.
If you have the Kindle app on your iPad you can also read the same title in Kindle format on both devices.
