Many of the area parks offer access to freshwater springs. Visit the Florida State Parks to view the state-owned facilities. Blue SpringsGinnie Springs, and Poe Springs are popular parks in the area.

Interesting information: Ginnie Springs was named after Virginia, a black woman who did her laundry and cooked at the springs.

Manatees really do visit Manatee Springs, usually in late winter and early spring.

Poe Springs was unnamed on an 1846 map but was surveyed in 1847. One of the rodmen (i.e. surveyors) was named Albert Poe.
